From Here to Community: Enhancing Christian Community in Today’s Society
Coming to Adult Forum on _____________
Is our church a safe place to share our cares, our fears, our joys with loving Christian friends or are we a gathering of strangers? This course, to be taught by __________, is designed to move congregations from being a gathering of individuals to being a community working together towards God’s vision of peace and justice for humanity. Together we will explore the roots of Christian community, how it and individuals are affected by modern society, and how our Christian communities can be a unique gift to our world today. From Here to Community helps folks in the group create a safe place for discussion, learning, support and sharing.
All of the stories and dramas in the twelve sessions or journeys in From Here to Community are true stories whose places and characters have been disguised but not exaggerated. The Biblical reflections in Food for the Journey, stories, and helpful information become the basis for discussion. Participants begin by considering how the Christian community is the connecting link between the ideal Christian Life that Jesus taught and their own lives before moving on to such topics as: being a Christian in today’s individualistic culture; bringing good news in difficult situations; experiencing small groups; and using our gifts beyond our own community by working for the common good.
Come share your perspective on Christian choices and challenges in this inter-generational discussion class which will meet weekly in the ____________ from ___________ to __________.
