Autumn of Christian Life: Finding Meaning and Joy Amid Change and Loss
Coming to Adult Forum on _________
This course, to be taught by ___________, is one of four in the series The Seasons of Christian Life that provides occasions for discussing the challenges and opportunities at the various stages of life. The other three in the LifeCrossings series by Dick and Judy Reuning are:
* Spring: Understanding the Faith Journey of Younger Adults
* Summer: Choices, Challenges and Celebrations
* Winter: The Generations Consider Difficult Choices
All of the stories and dramas in the Seasons of Christian Life series are true stories whose places and characters have been disguised but not exaggerated. The stories, Biblical reflections in "Food for the Journey" and helpful information are skillfully woven together and become the basis for the conversations.
Autumn: Finding Meaning and Joy Amid Change and Loss has six sessions or journeys to help people of all ages make plans and good choices now for later life. Rich Bimler from Wheat Ridge Ministries writes in the Foreword, “A powerful part of this discussion resource is that it helps each participant to look seriously at the changes, the losses, the sufferings that we all endure, but it does so by first looking through the Cross and the Resurrection of Christ Jesus! This is a book about hope and joy …”
Each session helps all generations ponder the years before and beyond retirement. What’s life all about? Am I ready for the future whatever it holds? Will there be a plentiful harvest or scarcity? Should I move? Is there no escape from change? Why suffering? Why loss? Where is God in all of this? Is there a role for the Christian community? What wisdom can I share with other generations?
While the conversation is about one particular time of life, it is appropriate for all ages to learn from the experiences of others. Come and share your perspectives at the Adult Forum which meets in the ____________ from _______to______ every Sunday.
